So Kim... guess who just passed the Praxis. Ummm yes that would me!!!!!!!!!! I got my results on line yesterday but really couldn't believ e it. I was in shock most of the day. Thanking you again for all your help, prayers and well wishes. I have a CFY supervisor so I guess the ball is rolling. I'll meet with the dean of my grdaute school on Wednesday. Hopefully no obsticles there. I'm thinking I might just see you at the ASHA conference in NO. Hope to hear from you soon!

Hey Kim. How do you know/determine how many ?'s you were away from a passing score?

Thanks Kim. Yes speech implementers in MO can only work in the school systems under a certificated SLP. They don't have to have their c's f they've been grandfathered in with either a bachelors or a masters. I forget when they stopped grandfathering. I believe the implementer models follows that of most slp assistants in that we are only responsible for scheduling, treatment, IEP/eval/classroom teacher input but we are paid teacher salary. The thing in the district I work for is this new initiative they hv with one of the local universities. Their speech path students come in and work and get their graduate degree paid for. So with 10-15 new implementers every year/every other year the need for implementers is dwindling bc these students hv 100% pass rate on the NESPA. And the state of MO maintains that as long as there are qualified SLP's there's no need for implementers. Our job security is weak to say the least. So that's my push as well as the fact that no other district in MO as far as we know has speech implementer positions. It's a blessing that I've been making teacher level salary for this long. And I'm sure I will pass the Praxis...at some point :) I figure if I didn't do as well this time, I'd study more and take it again. And if that point I hadn't passed, I'd wait to attend a NESPA review course like you did. I see nbaslh's review conference was in ATL last year. I've already requested to be added to their mailing list. I've written a book. LOL. I am praying that I passed and that I will see you at the national conference. But listen, do u know if u will have to retake course work or take additional course work to satisfy asha's current requirements? I think the dean of my graduate school told me I would. Look forward to hearing back from you.

Hey lady. I just took the exam this past Saturday. I'm not sure how I feel about how I did. Worse case scenario... I improved my score and will get some indication of what direction I need to go. Both the blue book and the flash cards were extremely helpful.

Thank you so much Kim! I remember reading a comment you left for another member where you mentioned synthesizing information. In your comment to me, I got it! It was like a light bulb went off! Just then, I began to understand what you meant by synthesizing the information;being able to apply it. I am exciting to be preparing again for the exam using a new approach. I just ordered and received the big blue speech language review book. And I'm going to look into those flash cards you mentioned. I will definitely keep in touch with you because there is so much I need to know. Thanks again for your advice and thanks in advance for future questions I'll be asking. (Smile)

Hi Kim. I'm new to the group. I noticed our situations are (were) very similar. congratualtions on passing the praxis. I'm terrified because I've taken it several times before, unsuccessfully. Is there any advice you can give me? Is there one/some thing that absolutely worked for you?

Hey ... Thanks for the advice. I will be taking the praxis in January and I will pass. If I don't pass the exam before April then I have to take a comprehensive exam in order to GRADUATE. I plan on moving to Alabama after I graduate and I will have taken & passed my last standardized test called the PRAXIS. Keep in touch!
